Kitchen Sinks

We carry sinks from leading domestic brands to cutting edge exotics and green options.

The kitchen is typically considered to be the most important part of any home, and the sink is by far the busiest area of this room. After all, the sink provides an easy to use spot for preparing meals and cleaning up afterwards. This highly functional item can also have a big impact on the aesthetic appeal of your kitchen. Although you can expect to get at least 15 years of usable life out of a quality kitchen sink, you will eventually begin to experience leaks and unsightly issues, including a dulled finish. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense to purchase a new faucet and sink as part of your kitchen remodel. Fortunately, there are many options to choose from, and you can easily replace these essential components for a reasonable price.

Factors to Consider Before Purchasing a Kitchen Sink

  • Color – You will find multiple colors available, and this can help you build cohesion between your sink and the rest of the room. However, it is important to note that colors other than white can cost up to 40 percent more.
  • Number and Spacing of Holes – Finding the right sink to accommodate an existing faucet or vice versa will require you to pay close attention to the amount of holes and how they are spaced apart so that everything will match up properly.
  • Measure the Width and Depth – Many people prefer a double-bowl sink so that they can soak dishes on one side. In order to get the most out of this option, you will need to make sure that at least one side of the sink is wide and deep enough to hold your biggest pots. Your height will also impact whether or not you are comfortable with a very deep sink.

Kitchen Sink Mounting Options

  • Under-Mount – These kitchen sinks are installed from underneath, and they rest slightly below your countertop. This makes it easier to clean up crumbs, but it also makes it necessary for your countertop to be waterproof.
  •  Farmhouse/Apron-Front – This style is attractive, and it can incorporate a modern or classic farmhouse look. However, it is also more expensive than most options, and you will need to invest in a special cabinet.
  •  Tile-In – This style mounts easily, and the square corners and flat edges will allow it to line up perfectly with your countertop.
  • Integral – This is one of the most popular choices when the countertop is also being replaced because an integral sink is flush-mounted and will be made from the same materials as the counter.
  • Top-Mount – These drop-in kitchen sinks are affordable and easy to install. However, if you have a fancy countertop in place, you might want to avoid a top-mount sink because they can be visually distracting.

Kitchen Sink Finishes

  • Stainless – This popular option is highly durable and usable, so it is perfect for those on a budget. You can also reduce noise and scratches by investing in thicker steel and a brushed satin finish.
  • Solid Surface – You will need to have this style specially made and installed, but it will be completely seamless with your counter and easier to keep clean.
  • Acrylic – This sink style is relatively inexpensive, easy to clean and stain resistant. Acrylic does tend to scratch easily, but these defects can be sanded out.
  • Copper – This is the perfect choice for a kitchen that has stone or wood countertops, and the highly durable nature of copper makes it a great investment. You will not need to worry about tarnishing or rust, and the sink will have built-in antimicrobial properties to help protect you from E. coli.
  • Cast Iron – If you want a kitchen sink that will last for multiple generations, you should purchase one of the many cast iron options. These sinks are very colorful, and they are also environmentally friendly because they are made primarily from recycled materials.
  • Composite – These kitchen sinks are constructed from a variety of materials, and they are made to be sturdy and heat-resistant.
  • Fireclay – Individuals who want an extremely low maintenance sink will enjoy one of the many colors that is available in this style. Fireclay sinks are stain, scratch and chip resistant, and they will not discolor, fade or rust.

Kitchen Sink Features

You will have many features to choose from, including utility sinks, bar sinks, washerless operation and custom-fitted cutting boards. Each of these options can be utilized to help you take full advantage of your available space. For example, a bar sink is perfect for a kitchen island, and a custom-fitted cutting board will help you with food prep if you do not have a lot of counter space.
